Mobile App Customer base
With companies reporting 1Q09 results this week, these two bits came out.
Google Android: over 1 million phones in 6 months - release here.
iPhone: 3.79 million in 3 months (I read somewhere close to 8 million in the same 6 month period the G1 has been available) - release here.
I’m working with a group right now on doing an app, and we are currently targeting Android for a few reasons. These numbers made that seem like a bad idea.
I guess the flip side is that there are much less developers working for Android, so there may be more room for us. And I expect Android to get much bigger in coming months. There are tons of new devices coming out soon.
